News and Announcements
Here’s the information you’ve all been waiting for. Tryouts will be all day on Saturday, March 17th, 2018. Assuming we stay on schedule, it shouldn’t take more than 60-90 minutes to get your player through warm ups and all of the tryout stations. Once your player has hit, you are free to leave. All players will be placed on a team and the drafts will occur the week following tryouts. Managers will be instructed to contact their players after they’ve completed their drafts.
Review the “Tryout Grid” in this announcement (it’s organized by division) and find your player’s name. Ensure you check all groups as there are several groups for each division. In the column above your player’s name shows the check in time, warm up time and tryout start time. If you don’t see your players name listed on the tryout grid, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tryouts are only for Double A and above. T-ball, Rookie and Single A will be assigned to a team by the Player Agent. Reminder….. It’s imperative that your players attend tryouts or risk not being drafted into the division they should be in.
There will be NO tryouts for Seniors this year because we only have 1 team. Your Manager will be in touch with you soon.
Tryouts will be held at Competitive Edge located on the corner of Featherstone and Persistance.
Competitive Edge Athletic Performance Center
14849 Persistance Drive
Woodbridge, VA 22191
Tryout day for the board members and coaches is a very long and trying day. Tryouts can best be described as “managed chaos” and many of us will be there for 12 hours or more. Please do your part by arriving prior to your check in time to allow us to get the group together and start warm-ups on time. Because we will have approximately 175 players trying out, we are unable to support requests for players to come earlier or later than their identified times. Plan to arrive just prior to your identified check in times as parking will be limited.
In an effort to raise money, we will be selling boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the front of Competitive Edge (in the check in area). Bring your wallet, credit card or a check and take 1 or several boxes of doughnuts home with you.
If you have any questions, please send an email to woodbridgeLLBB@gmail.com. I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday at tryouts.

It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of the passing of a longtime Woodbridge Little League family member.
Dani Young passed away after a short and unexpected illness. Dani’s sons, Sutton and Talon, both grew up in Woodbridge Little League playing their entire careers here in our league, at Woodbridge HS and both going on to play at the collegiate level.
Dani could always be seen sitting in the stands cheering on Talon and Sutton and the many others she watched grow up alongside her boys. Dani will be dearly missed by the many baseball Moms and Dads that shared the same stands with her. The entire Woodbridge community is mourning the loss of such a wonderful woman, daughter, sister and mother.
Please keep Eddie, Talon, Sutton and the entire Young family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate these very difficult times.
There will be a memorial service at Miller Funeral Home on Friday at 4 pm. All are welcome to attend. Let’s show the Young family how much we love Dani and her family. In lieu of flowers and in true baseball spirit, the Young family is asking for all donations to be made in Dani’s name to Woodbridge Little League.
Remembering Dani Young…..
President, WLL VA

Parents, before you go out and spend your hard earned money on a new bat, please read the article on changes in bat standards.
With the Little League® International Board of Directors formally adopting USA Baseball’s new standard for bat performance testing, Little League International fully supports this program. For more than seventy-five years, Little League has used improvements in science, engineering, and technology to take the sport of baseball to higher levels. By utilizing the most current advancements available, manufacturers can now develop bats with a wood-like performance, which is important for the long-term success of the game. Developed by a USA Baseball committee of scientific experts, Little League Baseball® has decided to adopt the new bat standard for mandated use effective January 1, 2018. All national members of USA Baseball, including Little League, are encouraged to adopt this new standard. Little League-approved bats can be used through December 31, 2017, and our current bat regulations will be in effect until then. That includes the moratorium prohibiting the use of all 2 ¼ inch barrel baseball bats constructed with composite material in the barrel, unless approved. Visit LittleLeague.org for additional information. Little League looks forward to working with USA Baseball, and will begin educating our local leagues, and the parents of our 2.1 million baseball players, preparing them for the important change coming in 2018.
